You are invited, darling! I'm making my debut as a performer at Club Tourmaline. Entrance is typically 10 Chroma, but show this invitation and you can get in for just 5. Feel free to bring friends!
[ Oh no... oh no, Connie... Fish pulls him into a tight and loving embrace, arms wrapping soothingly over his shoulders and head, encouraging him to cry on to them, their clothes be damned. ]
Darling... Confidence... let it all out. I'm here for you.
[ He cries on Fish's poor clothes, shaking in their arms. ]
He's not from my world! I'll never see him again!
[ Connie sobs, voice cracking a bit. No matter what he does, he can never see Kairon or Sharn or finish learning the piano. Everything is gone and he feels so utterly lost. ]
[ Fish holds Connie to their chest, soothing him with pets to his hair and back. There's nothing they can say at the moment to help Connie get over his grief. And it's important that he feels through this. It's life, after all. And they want to make sure that they're there for him no matter what. ]
[ He cries for a while, before he runs out of tears and just makes unhappy sounds against Fish's chest. Connie takes a deep breath and glances up at the merfolk, a mess of tears with a ruddy face. ]
...s-sorry. I guess... I guess I needed that. It's been hard to cry.
[ Fish doesn't stop soothing at all, even when their clothes are soaked through with Connie's tears and snot. And when he finally looks up, they draw up a thumb to brush away the trail of tears from his eyes. They give him a sad smile. ]
It's alright. You did need that. It felt like you were holding in a lot. I'm here for anything you need.
[ He prestidigitates the mess away from both Fish and himself with a soft apology, but doesn't move from their arms. Fish always felt safe, like the older sibling he always wanted and not the one he had.
Grieve. It's alright to. And you can do it as long as you need to. But, maybe you can use what Kairon's given you to move forward. He would have loved that, right? To see you be who you are-- Confidence.
[ Fish smiles, meeting his eyes. ]
He believed in you. The same way I do. And Molly does as well.
I'll try. I try every day to be me, but this... this...
[ He hugs his tail closer like it's a comfort in addition to Fish, and there's a small chirp as Grace joins them, squishing in between them in that way only slinky critters can do. ]
i know they've already told you, but i'll tell you again just in case: you don't have to be alone over there, alright? we're more than happy to clear some space out for you, give you a little spot so you don't have to be. even if it's just for a while.
[ By every single god, the THOUGHT of anyone trying to lock Connie away much less hurt him makes Molly's blood boil. He'd near forgotten that everyone hated him at home for who he was. ]
You can absolutely---are absolutely a part of ours. No question.
I have something for you, I didn't give it to you before because I didn't think it was right. But now I see that I should've.
[ He hears it, and part of him knows it's true, but Kairon's departure has torn a wound in him that boils over with old trauma and horror.
He returns to that frightened, lost teenager who would do anything for someone to just show him a hint of kindness - but always expecting them to throw him away in the end. ]

Fish is going to go with the mage hand. They audibly shut the door behind them and make their way to where Connie was so they could sit by his side. ]

I don't know...
[ It's been a few days and his apartment is a mess, scorch marks and glitter all over. Hoof prints on the carpet. ]

[ Fish settles down beside Connie and gingerly gathers him into a hug. ]
... what happened, darling?

Kairon... he's gone. For real this time. No crystals or... or anything. Just gone!
[ Connie sobs and then breaks down for real, just crying into Fish's arms because he's been holding it in for days. ]

... I can't say for sure. Grief... stays. The best we can do is just to eventually find peace with it.

I lose evryone around me Molly what am I going to do if you or Fish disappear too?
no subject
I'm not sure I will ever disappear, sweetheart. I have no home to go back to. Here is home.
[ Don't tell Fjord that. It's not important right now, he thinks. Bullshit, better than the truth. ]
Are you at home?
no subject
I always wanted a real one
[ There's a long pause. ]
